Hey. I have an 88 GT. I put on Flowtech LT headers and 2 1/2 pipes with a magnaflow ss catback. When i was totally done and i went for a drive when you get on it like 5K and than shift you get a jolt. It wasnt smooth like it used to be when it was stock. I think it is because it is cat less and there isnt enough back pressure. If anyone knows what it might be all help would be great. Thanks Chris

Your description is very vague. "Jolt".... you mean that when you shift at higher rpm, say at 5,000+, the car jerks hard & pushes you back into the seat? That's a good thing. If I'm wrong; please try to describe with a little bit more detail, ok?

It's very hard to give you advise since you have not listed any information about your ride in your signature. All mod's, type trans, mileage, dyno and\or dragstrip ET info really gives us a better opportunity to try & help you....

im with Tony on this one too - first thing that came to my mind was that you were shocked (in regard to the jolt).

also, what was and is your exact exhaust set up (before when it was running with no jolt, and after when the jolt came up). im not clear if you had cats or not before.

does this occur at WOT or only partial throttle?

good luck.

This only happens at WOT. My prevous state before the surges was stock shorty headers with the cats and all. Had cold air intake and magnaflow catback. Car ran fine like that. When i installed the flowtech long tube headers and went with no cats I started to get the jolts. What happens when shiftin after 5K it like lags so it like you shift than WOT and it takes a second to start to go. If that helps there ya go if not ill try again.
