so cal
hey guys whats up, well my lucky cousin picked up an 88 notchback for $800, it runs and everything but it sounds like its seen better days, we are trying to replace everything needed to make it run like a champ again, so far we have replaced plugs and wires, cap and rotor, thermostat, water pump, radiator, coil, air filter, we cleaned the MAf, we also checked the compression on all 8 cylinders, they all show 150 except for one that reads 140, does anyone know what the stock compression should be at? also is there anything else you guys would recommend replacing? thanks in advance.

150 is good, 140 for that one cylinder is a little low but nothing to truly worry about. Some stock 5.0's barely every pump 155....

Was this a dry or a wet compression test? Was the TB held open? Was the motor up to temp?

My 88lx bone stock 240,000 miles, intake closed, cold, dry, I got 180-185 in each hole. I tested with two diffrent gauges to make sure because most guys seem to be kicking around 150-160 for healthy stockers. Mabe my valve guides/seals just leak more than I think so it is actualy a wet test.
