I am repainting my 89 GT and I was wondering if I could sand blast the ground effects. Also, should I paint the ground FX and then mount them on the car or paint 'em on the car?

Paint them off the car so you don't have paint runs into the gaps.

if you do as Speedytang says, make sure they do have flex agent in the paint, or you will likely crack the paint off while mounting (if the FX flex while trying to get them on).

good luck.

No, don't sandblast them, that's too abrasive. Media blast at best.

As far as blasting goes if you do use a VERY soft material. And as for painting them I've done it both ways and the only thing about painting them off the car is the reinstall even with the flex agent they want to crack and it's real easy to scratch the paint on the fenders. My suggestion is to paint them on the car.

Yeah, same here...I'd prep and paint the surface underneath, where they mount to the body, then clip/stick them on and spray the whole car. That's what I did with my LX....and it's been 3-years with no problems.
