I've posted the issue I have in another thread, that the radio display is really dim. Doesn't matter if headlights are on or off. On the same topic, I want to keep the stock Ford headunit with cassette for the sake of originality, but not if I can't read it. Will any other Ford radio (single-DIN) work in the car or do I need to look for another 80's headunit or is it possible to repair the display? I'd even do single DIN CD if it works, but that seems like it was a thin application.

I fixed the light in a stock gm radio years ago, it used the same bulb my switch panel in the dump truck, got it at radio shack, it was a very small bulb and I had to solder it to the wires, not sure if the fox radio is the same but it was a major pain.
One of the members here swapped a taurus (I think) radio and it looked stock, I'll see if I can dredge it up.
