The clutch peddle is very hard to push down and it does not seem to want
to engage the clutch. Now it is my understanding that if the clutch were bad the clutch would slip if you put the car in the highest gear and give it gas.
The clutch does NOT slip at all. The peddle just seems to not want to engage the clutch. Could it be the slave cylinder or clutch cable?
Thanks

No slave cylinder on our cars. The problem may be a bad cable. If I were you, I'd replace the cable and get a new metal quadrant and a firewall adjuster. These items seem to clear up a lot of adjustment issues. If these don't fix your problems, you will not have wasted your money because these are "must do's" anyway. If you're still having problems, I'd say you're going to have to drop the tranny and see what's going on in there. Probably a galled bearing retainer or bad clutch.

Agreed ... do the cable first, if it still does it then you will likely have to replace your bearing retainer with a steel one. Hopefully it's just a cable.
