when driving with a/c on under exeration when vacume signal is low the a/c defalts to the defrost. I have been chasing down vacume leaks. is this a commen selector switch problem? also this car has a auto 4 speed. under normal driving condition it shift out of first at 15 mph and out of secound at 25 mph and in to od at 40 mph luging all the way is this normal?

There is a check valve & reservoir in the A/C vacuum system that
holds vacuum when it drops off. That is the likely source of your
problem. It is a 25 cent sized black plastic fitting in a line that comes
from the vacuum tree. The normal mounting place is on the firewall,
above and behind the passenger side of the intake manifold.
