Iam swapping a 8" for a 9" tracloc 28 spline small bearing. 5speed manual. Question is there a short companion flange and a long flange. This would be to compensate for the gap left by the swap. I e-mailed Summit and did not get a satisfactory reply.

What does your 9" center section look like? Does it have just a flat flange on the pinion?

If your are referring to the 3rd member driveshaft yoke and want to use the old 8" driveshaft, it will require the short yoke on the 9".

Thank you , It appears the short flange/yoke is 4" & 5" from the plate. A 1310 and a 1330 small and large bearing cap. Denny's Driveshafts stocks the Ford 9 inch rear end pinion yokes in a variety of u-joint series in the 28 spline version and also a 1350 series for the 35 spline pro gears.
The Ford 9 inch rear ends can be found in just about any Ford car or light truck. Ford enthusiasts around the world have used the 9 inch rear end in countless street and race car applications. The Ford 9 inch has found its way into just about every brand of high performance vehicle on the road or track today.
The original equipment u-joint size was either 1310 or 1330 series. The 1310 series is commonly known as the "small" u-joint and the 1330 series is known as the "large" u-joint. Both of these can be found on the Ford 9 inch rears.
The original equipment hardware used to hold the u-joint into the pinion yoke was comprised of two 5/16 inch u-bolts.
You should note that the original 1310 and 1330 Ford 9 inch pinion yokes can be either 4 inches or 5 inches tall. They also can be designed for the 1 1/16th or the 1 1/18 inch (Big Cap) u-joint bearing cap diameter. Please be sure to measure the original carefully before ordering.

The one on the right (4") is what you would use with the stock 8" drive shaft. If you have a choice, then you might want the 1310 U joint version to match your 1310 8" driveshaft. If not, there is also a combo joint that is readily available that has both 1310 and 1330.

Besure to get the U bolts that are recommended for use with the yoke.
