Engine 90 5.0L Upper Intake Mod?

87 BII, 4X4, 5.0L, AOD

I'd like to add the a/c back to my vehicle. Upper intake is slightly too wide to use as is.

What effect would it have if I have the intake "narrowed" a few inches and weld a new end-plate back on? It would still be functional, just not sure what it would do to performance.

Anyone else with an 85-87 Ranger/BII run into this problem? What changes did you make to get your a/c working with a V8 swap?

Would it subtract plenum volume or runner lenght?

I think the end result is a slight loss of torque. How much depends on how much you narrow it.

Take a picture and show us where the clearance problem is.
Me personally i'd rather modify the ac than the intake if possible or could you possibly just use a different intake?
