Me and my friend race all the time and some wierd ish happens all the time.

him: '90 LX 5.0 AOD (stock: 2824lbs 225hp 300torque) w/ mac cai, flowtech unequal shorties, mac prochamber 2.5", mac 2.5" catback

me: '94 GT 5.0 AOD (stock: 3258lbs 215hp 285torque) w/ mac cai, mac long tubes, mac high-flow catted h-pipe 2.5", stock catback

dead stop, he'll beat me all the way through and pull about 1/2 car length after 1/4 mi.

45 mph start, i'll pull all the way upto 90 for a 1/2 car lead and my car will stop pulling and he'll pull on me after that.

took apart my maf and cleaned the wire lead sensors, disconnected battery to reset computer, car got slower... why?!!!!! dead stop he'll pull 2 1/2 car lengths now after 1/4 mi.

Does all this sound normal for the mods we each have? or is something wrong wtih my car (other than my check engine light & slipping tranny)... What should be the expected outcome?

Waiting for my magnaflow C/B to come in the mail. Hoping that'll give me some power. Also debating mac prochamber... will that give me a significant hp increase over mac high-flow H?

He will win every time because of your intake. If your tranny slips, i'm sure it's getting worse. That could explain it.

his intake??? do the 94-95 5.0's have bad intake??? Well if it does the another reason would probably be the weight of the car vs horsepower and torque.

Actually I think something is wrong with the 90 LX...it should beat the 94 AODE GT...and also the 90 LX weighs around 3250 or so...and the 94 a little bit more...

the 94 has 10 less hp and weights a little more, so of cousre the 90 is going to win. plus i believe with the new headers u actualy loose 2-3 hp on the stock engine, thats y i havnt desiced for got headers for my 88 GT.

I dont understand the question. You have less horsepower and your car weighs 300-400 lbs more than his. The weigh alone is costing you 3-4 tenths in the quarter, and as for the topend, if you both have stock gearing then you are in worse shape on the highway because you probably have 3.27's and he has either 3.08's or 2.73s.

He doesn't weigh 300-400lbs more...he just thought (unless the guy did major weight reduction) that his friend with the 90 weighs 2800lbs...but in reality it is around 3250 or so...probably a 150 pound difference...maybe...

The 94 AODE didn't come with 327's right? Pretty positive they didn't...

On the 94-95 Mustangs they had to use a Thunderbird intake on them do to the lower hood clearence thats why they lost the 10 horsepower. Plus the weight diff!

I have a 90LX with no weight reductions (hatch back), and with the spare tire still in the trunk it weighs 3000 pounds even at the race track weight scale. Coupe's are a tiny bit lighter as well (my friend's 89 coupe weighs 2900 with no weight reductions). You must be thinking of the GT weight. And convertibles weigh even more.

The most common weight for a fully optioned coupe is a tad over 3000 lbs.

Mine weighed in at 3018 without the spare and jack, and with these heaver 17" wheels and tires.

The stripper notches are the ones that usually weigh in under 3k lbs stock.

Caine, it sounds as if your tracks scale could be a bit off...or you guys have some freakishly light stock 5.0's.

Oh, sorry. I forgot to mention that I have no power options from the factory, etc. All I have is A/C. My friends coupe doesn't either.. mine's a bit heavier than his cause it's a hatch, and 1 year newer with the airbag and such

Foxes had more aggressive ECU, much lighter bodies (close to 200-300 pounds), shorter overall. But the 94' and 95' had a few upgrades like the MAF and the TB size - in the end no big deal. The fox was one of the lightest muscle cars largely built, and that sn95/fox4 should not beat the 90' lx if you took both of them with everything being equal and 0 miles on the odometer, no way no how.
