Ok so I have very nice running lx but it seams to me that it should have more power climbing hills then it does it runs great no missing or smoking but on the freeway when I go up a hill I have to really put my foot in it are these 2.3s gutless on hills or should I be looking for something like timing belt off a tooth and no codes or engine light at all

A 1990 2.3L Mustang has 88HP. A convertible is pretty heavy. 88HP going up a hill is going to take a while. If it's an automatic, even worse.

You say no codes, did you get a code 11 koeo?

When you turn the key to the on position, does the check engine light come on? It should to show you it is working.

You should have got a 11 koeo that tells you no codes
Where you able to run koer codes?

I think you are misunderstanding how pre obd2 systems work. You can have codes, and no engine light on. Only 13 of the possible 100 codes will trip the light.

You'll need to get a scanner and run the codes regardless of light being on. You can do this with a paperclip, or $30 reader. See the sticky at the top of the forum for more info
