9005s in the fogs

I'm lookin to replace the fog bulbs in my GT, and have noticed that the 9005 will fit where the 9145 should. I know they are a higher wattage by 20, and I sure as hell don't wanna fry anything from my harness or the fog lens, but would love sum higher output without going to HID (can't afford). Anyone have em, good sucess, no probs etc.??? Also thinking bout yellow as well, for the foul weather winter season - or even the vinyl lens cover tinted in yellow................Anyone??? TIA, it's appreciated

I'm not sure about that particular setup but I thought i read somehwere that you can convert the factory fog lights to "driving" lights. I don't know if the lens has to be changed or if they change the bulb to a different design.

Did the same thing in my former F150. The 9005 is a high beam bulb however and doesn't have the shield coating on the tip of the bulb. This means you will probably blind people and get flashed a lot. Wasn't so bad on the truck cause the lights were low in the bumper. I just put Silverstar 9145"s (correct bulb) in my fogs and they look great. Much stronger whiter output. Worth a try.

I know all about the 9005s because my grand Cherokee takes em' - Again, I was thinking about yellow 9005s for poor weather conditions. I'm not one to run em' all the time because they look kewl, but when I need em', I don't give a ***** about blinding peeps because I goto work @ 4.45am - hence, very lite traffic. Anyone else......again......... tia

many people have had the black ring in the fog lens fall off after installing higher wattage bulbs.

well, I swapped the 9005's outa my Grand Cherokee fogs and slammed them into the stang fogs......................not great at all!!! Without the tip on the bulb (9145's), the light just scatters, no focus or cut-off what so ever. It's almost like when you put on your high beams on in foggy conditions = crap. They worked great in my G cherokee because the fogs are lower in the bumper like the F-150. So, imo, if you're wanting a brighter bulb to look kewl, then hey, y not, but for actual functionality, I'm sticking with the unfortunate lower wattage 9145, but more usable light output from the lens. Get some silverstars and slap on yellow shatterproof tint on the lights for the maximum effect or else you could consider a 3K HID swap but watch out because you might blind oncoming traffic.

I went to Hoen Endurance yellow fog bulbs. Seem to work well in the fog & rain (plus they look cool as hell).
Careful about higher wattage fog bulbs, I have read they can get hot and cause the little black metal thing that surrounds the bulb to come loose.

They are removable it's basically like window tint only thicker to protect from rockchips.

I've got Silverstars in mine to somewhat match the factory HID headlights and love them...plenty bright and they look good!

these are Nokya Hyper Yellow Halogen bulbs.

What wattage? I had some for headlights and they were twice the watts of the oem which fries harnesses
