Hi Everybody! New to the foxbody game. I have a 91 LX Hatch 5.0. When trying to change the worn strikers yesterday. The backing plate where the striker bolts into, fell. Confused as to how to get it back in place, so that I can screw the striker bolt back in. Any helpful tips on how to do this? Do I have to remove the door panel trim to get to the backing plate from inside the car? I hope I’m making sense, any help would be much appreciated!

You have to access the back of the door jamb which means you'll have to pull the lower back seat and remove the trim panel, there's a little more to it IIRC but not hard, lots of screws, some different lengths so pay attention, you should be able to reach the inside of the door jamb. The plate rests on some tabs at the striker hole.
If it will not stay in place, broken/bent tabs, I dab a bit of RTV and assemble the striker and adjust the door.
This is from memory and is a little dusty.

I appreciate the help. We got it done by following those steps. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be!
