93 cobra intake?

a few people on here have made it work. its not a direct fit. might be easier to do a fox tb swap or just get the explorer intake and use the elbow.

buy an elbow and a 93 egr valve. block off the egr opening on the elbow. almost as simple as that. just be ready for some close tollerences. I've done it to mine and works just fine. let me know if you need any more help.

The elbow isn't "plug and play" like some people say, you'll have to redrill a couple of holes in the adapter to attach it. I personally converted to the Fox TB setup to run the 93 cobra intake as there are some benefits such as internal EGR, cheaper throttle bodies and cleaning up the engine bay (and it looks better than a fugly elbow). Regardless of whether you use the adapter or the Fox conversion you'll have to do some fabrication for the air inlet tubing and work with the throttle cable. I wrote some in depth instructions on doing the Fox TB conversion, PM me if you want me to send them your way. The easiest thing for you would be to just run an explorer upper as you can bolt the elbow adapter on with zero modification or fabrication just like the GT40 upper.

18, what needs to be drilled? Simply bolt on the 94-95 Elbow is all that's needed for it to work on our cars. The internal EGR hole for the FOX style just needs a 3/4 cap. The elbow is plug and play. Just about all aftermarket intakes for 302 based blocks are listed from 86-95.

The bolt holes on the edapter and the intake don't line up..they're slightly off. And as Whytstang mentioned the built in EGR spacer moves everything a couple of inches out of tolerance which means fabricating an induction system just like the Fox TB conversion, possibly re-routing or extending the TB and CC cables, EGR plumbing nightmares if you don't use the Fox EGR setup (much easier and cleaner IMO), and so on. The elbow adaper will work 100% fine on the GT40 tubular or the Explorer intake, but the 93 cobra is a much bigger PITA with the built in EGR spacer which is not on the two aforementioned intakes.

I bought the edelbrock elbow and it lined up just fine. only thing I had to drill was the lower right hole just to make the bolt work and easier to get it to tighten.

Perhaps it's just coincidence then because I had the Edelbrock adapter and the holes were slightly off compared to my 93 cobra. If you got yours to work I'm happy. Either way, after researching all of the possibilities of using the elbow it was a toss up on the amount of work and fabrication that I'd have to do between using the elbow and doing the Fox TB conversion. I liked the way the Fox setup looked (and I hate the SN95 elbow, both adapter and stock) so I went Fox and never regretted it. Plus, I could run EGR again with the Fox setup as my BBK LTs (first gen SN95 LTs) didn't have the EGR bung.

after me destorying my nice fox valve covers I've even started to consider the fox TB swap. I had these nice fox valve cover al slicked up and painted a nice gloss black and teh stupid filler neck wouldn't fit. apartently the fox neck is different than the 94-95. after some loving with a sawzall, another ainnt job, a rubber gromet, and a PCV valve, it worked.

I had that same problem with my ford racing VCs. The oil filler neck on the SN95s are right up by the alternator while the fox and Ford Racing VC's oil filler neck is back a couple of inches which hits the intake elbow. Regardless of the oil filler location on my VCs, I would have had to run and intake spacer to run the VCs as the SN95 EGR flange prevented the intake from seating all the way :notnice: . I am very happy with my Fox TB conversion and would do the conversion on any SN95 that I would have in the future.
