My father is interested in supercharging his 93 cobra. The car is basically stock except for full exhaust. I know Vortech used to make a 93 cobra specific kit but they don't produce it any more, or at least it is not listed on the web site.

Does anybody know what was different with the Vortech 93 cobra kit? Was it just tuned specifically for the car? Also, since they do not produce that kit anymore, what supercharger kit would you suggest? He is not interested in making crazy power. He just wants a little bit more :) Thanks!

the fmu calibration was different and the pulley arrangement was different because the 93 cobra had underdrives from the factory.

we put an a-trim on my buddies bone stock 93 cobra in the summer of 93. it ran forever like that. we changed a lot of stuff, but it was left stock from TB to pan. lower intake was never unbolted and the valvecovers never came off. we never pulled the motor out of the car until it cracked the block.

anyway, with the a-trim we never dyno'd it, but it went high 11s at 116 with 10lbs of boost. we swapped to an s-trim in '98 and a 2.95" compressor pulley making 12lbs of boost. it went 11.30s@122 like that and made 440rwhp. a couple years later we put a 2.75" compressor pulley on it, and made over 490rwhp at 16 psi of boost. 3 weeks later it split the block. the pistons were still perfect. :nice:

I actually found the cobra specific kit for sale at 50resto. I called them and they said they can still get it and it would be shipped directly from Vortech. I guess he will probably go with this kit. It is an s-trim.

I was told fmu calibration only, when I talked to Vortech.Cobra FMU set up for 24# inj,GT for 19#INJ,You can buy dif discs to recalibrate the FMU.Although I wouldn't recommend using a FMU.Get it tuned instead.Plan on getting bigger inj too.

the original cobra kit was what we used, before the s-trim was available. at the time i think the only other street blower was the b-trim. and serpentine section of supercharger/accessory drive crank pulley was underdriven like the stock cobra crank pulley.

which was different from the standard kits myself and my friends have had over the years, a, b, s and t trims that had the standard pulley diameter for the crank accessory drive on the pulley.

they probably changed it around from the very early kit that we used.
