Can someone lead me in the right direction here? I had recently picked up a '93 Cobra, yes an original one, but the previous owner had sold the OEM Cobra Wheels off the car. I'm wanting to bring it back to as close to original/new condition as possible, but am having issues with coming up with some decent OEM Cobra 17" Wheels.

I've looked at the '93 Cobra Replica Wheels which they state will not work on an actual Cobra, but will work on all other Foxbody Mustangs. The wheel manufacturer told me that the rear wheels will work out, but that most people change out the front rotors to make the front wheels work.

My question is this. If I decide to go this route, are the rotors the only thing I need to swap out? Or will I need to change out the spindles, calipers and the rotors, to some that come off a '87 - '93 GT Mustang?? Also, does anyone know of any wheel manufacturer's out there that offer a direct bolt on wheel that will work for a '93 Cobra? They don't have to be '93 Cobra Wheels. I don't see a 1" wider wheel and about a 1/2" difference in the backspacing causing that much of an issue, but maybe it will.

Hasn't anyone out there been through this yet??

Thanks for any help!

I'm new here but going through the same problem. I just picked up a 93 Cobra with chrome replica wheels. The car also has a Eibach 2" lowering kit. I had to send my wife to pick it up(it's really hers anyway)so I didn't get to inspect. I had a shop do an inspection before I paid just to give me comfort in the purchase. Well when she got home I saw that the rear driver's side tire was being ate up by the inner fender. Luckily I was given the OEM wheels and had them installed tonite, problem solved. I think the OEM wheels look better than the chrome anyway. BTW, it has GT rotors installed on the front but if your lowered they will still rub. The OEM width is 7.5".

Thanks for info!

I appreciate the information. Nobody seems to want to commit to giving me an answer on this, which I think is weird. I have one manufacturer of some wheel spacers checking with a "wheel engineer" somewhere to see what they come up with, but no one else will even reply for some reason.
I figure the only way I'll find out for sure is to try some of those replica wheels and make adjustments if required. The car isn't lowered and I don't plan on lowering it either, but the fronts may still rub with the smaller offset.
The original silver cobra wheels probably do look better than the Chrome ones did! That's what I was planning on using myself...
Any chance you'd want to sell the Replicas at a decent price? I hate to buy some just for an experiment, but if I can come up with a set reasonably I may try it.
Thanks!!!

I paid $676 for the replica wheels and had them on the car for about 750 miles so they are still almost new. They are 8.5" wide compared to our stock width of 7.5". Where are you located? I would like to get rid of them and shipping should not be a problem( I have a UPS acct)so let me know. Make me a reasonable offer or trade. After talking to a few reputable speed shops, I think as long as you are at stock spring height, they will clear IF you use GT front rotors and the narrowest tire possible on an 8.5"wheel. I talked to the previous owner today and he said he had several offers for the OEM wheels but declined so sounds like they are very hard to find at any price. This could work out well for me because I could use the $$ to pay for a new throwout bearing that decided to take a crap yesterday.I wonder if the Vortech SC has anything to do with that?? I could use any advice/help on maintaining a supercharged 93 Cobra?? Any one??

Shipping to Zip 65020

CW, Thanks! I thought said those wheels were on the car when you bought it? I'm really after the stock look, so the silver ones are what I'd really want unless I can get a pretty good deal on them. Let me know what you'd take total for them shipped to Camdenton, MO. 65020 and I'll decide... As you probably know, the silver Replicas are $476 for a set. I know a guy who has some originals with only 7,000 miles on them that has been sitting on them. If I offer him $600 - $700 cash he'll probably take it. I passed on a set of Silver Replicas last week for $360 shipped to me since I wasn't sure if they'd work or not. Send me an e-mail at sheldon@hughes.net and let me know what your bottom dollar is on the Chrome Replicas and/or the OEM Silver wheels if you're interested in selling them. I'll let you know before the weekend is over. Thanks, Sheldon
