93 EFI motor into my 85 gt/hb

Hey dudes I have a 93 5.0 that ran great when pulled from it's original car.
I also have a 85 GT hatch back in mint condition w/no motor or trans.
It originaly came stock with a 302 and 5 speed................
I would like to put the stock 5.0 into the 85 and use a 5speed again.
Probably stock trans for now (plan to build motor latter) But.......
I need feedback on this specialy if you did it already I am very mechanicly
inclined and have the tools and the patience (with a Lil help..)
But I need the inside scoop on is it WORTH it and if not we will be Carbed again!

i would go carbed, unless you are planning on forced induction

Why do you say forced induction is it really a must ?

if you plan on addding a S/C you would have to have FI (someone correct me if im wrong) unless you use a roots style blower

well my motor is carbed. So, i have question. Would it be possible to add a supercharger from an 03-04 cobra, or a blowzilla?

You dont HAVE to have EFI but its probably easier to tune unless you know your **** about blow through carbs.

Personally I would go ahead and drop in that 93 motor and put a carb back on it. But I have a soft spot for carbs.

arent kenne bell superchargers blowers? I mean I was looking at some, but I dont want a big huge blower under the hood. Somethign about the size of the SC's on the 03-04 cobras.

I love carbed cars, no limiters (gov, rev, speed)

im pretty sure there is no way to put a 03 blower on a carbed car, but then again its always nice bieng the first.

if you really want to run boosted, paxton offers a 6psi blowthru kit, that could get you started with fairly minimal tuning...but keep in mind the 93-up 5.0's used hyper pistons, they won't take too much boost before they start to speckle your plugs

personally, i'd just run a good roller cam, with a high rise dual plane intake, a 600-650cfm carb, and a MSD dist (or something of that genre)...then-have fun!

lol, this is a site, with mostly efi guys.


come on over to foureyedpride.com, 79-86 guys, and nearly all of em with carb's except the 86 guys and some efi converts.

Personally, I love efi, and I'd convert, but carbs are old school, and are a blast, and can make great power too.

that drivetrain you have can be dropped straight in, either way. You may need to change the timing cover to a carbed one for the fuel pump, or simply run an external pump.

for now, just to get her running, drop it in as is, and yank the intake and simply bolt a carb'd intake and a carb and go. Save the efi stuff, and collect what you need for a future conversion if you decide to go that way. 85's are really mean looking, nice choice for year.

that is what i call a blower that sits atop the motor rather than being mounted off to the side like a centrifical blower....but there is probally a better name for it
