93 FOX vs 03 COBRA... what would you guys do?

93 FOX or a '03 COBRA? I know there might be some bias b/c I'm in the Fox Talk section but just wanted to get your thoughts. Currently I have my 93 LX and I have an opportunity to get an '03 Cobra, BUT the one catch is that the '03 Cobra is a CLONE. Here's some details...

my current ride:
93 LX 5.0 - blk on blk - 5k on a rebuilt 306 - 5-speed - mechanically everything is working great - a/c even works - but so much to do to get it where I'd want it (ie. brakes, suspension, chassis stiffening, some paint, etc.)

'03 Cobra Clone:
It's a '03 GT with under 70k miles - 4.6 5-speed. It's pretty stock with exception to the exterior Cobra parts (front/rear bumpers, rims). The car looks real nice on the outside but it is a clone.

why am I considering:
First off, I'd have to sell my LX and come up with probably another $1K. Seems like a good trade off b/c I'm dumping so much money into my LX another $1k is nothing. If I kept my LX the mods and changes could be endless...lots of cashola I probably wouldn't dump that much into the '03 ...it's pretty much all there. The '03 is 10 years newer...newer suspension, brakes, electronics, etc. VS the '93. Plus I have over $2500 in fox parts i was going to put on the LX that i can sell for extra cash.

I don't know a ton about the 03's....what do you guys think? Pros? Cons? Thoughts? What would you do?

just fyi...

The coolest part of the 03 Cobra is the engine/transmission/irs/brakes/interior.

Without that, it's just another GT with a body kit.

adams91lx is spot on. i would take a fox body over a 03 gt and thats all that car is and if you think about it, it cost more to fix an 03 and figure problems out when the come up. the only thing i would lean to the 03 for is most likley better MPG. keep the fox is my vote

+1, if it were a real cobra then there might be a problem but seeing that its a clone then no, id stick with the fox.

Unless it had the 03 cobra drivetrain also, then that would be the only way I would even consider. But like everyone else has already said its just an 03 Gt with a body kit. Keep the fox

it depends on what you want to do. Yeah its not the real deal its a Feuxbra but what are you looking for, a daily driver? Its a newer car and has the comforts of a newer car. Pics of both cars with each ones plus and minus list will help you decide. (wouldnt hurt for us to see either)
Oh and yes, the fox forum is the last place that you will get a positive on the trade answer.

It's definitely not a daily driver. I live in Chicago and I despise rust so the Mustang hits storage once winter comes. I think the one thing I think about is the thousands & thousands I'm going to dump into my LX to get it to where I want it (ie. suspension, 5 lug, disc brakes, chassis stiffening, paint, stereo, etc). I know that's part of the fun part to build my own but when I see an '03 that's close to where I'd want a car (minus the engine) I get tempted to make a switch for around $1k.

The only reason to own a 03-04 Cobra is the drive train, no blower, no T56, no IRS....no way! Your 93is cool and clean, I say you keep plugging away with it and enjoy!

No on a clone. You have a fox. Not many foxes around here man. If you have a 99-04 GT....you'll be like everyone else.

Take it from me. I have a REAL 04 Cobra with a Whipple and a 91 GT with a 4V Cobra motor. I have had other badass fox bodies with stockish 5.0's. While both are cool, the Terminator wins. BUT...a real Terminator is gonna be 3-5 times more than any old fox body. Most Fox bodies SELL for 2K-8K....nevermind what people ASK. Terminators SELL for 18K-25K....nevermind the morons asking 30K, they will never get it.

93 LX vs. 03 FOBRA. 93 LX gets my vote.

There was a time when I felt that way. I've cooled on the Cobra some because I'm tired of the '99-04 body. For the money though it's still a badass Mustang. One that's capable of making stupid power with minimal work. That's hard to resist.

Agreed on all points. The Cobra definitley looks better/meaner (than the GT) and the sound alone almost makes it worth it the money. My only visual mod would be 18" replica '03 Cobra wheels. 18x9/10"
