93 gt or cobra

Ok I have a delemma. I went to get insurance on my mustang. When they entered the vin it came back as 1993 mustang gt/cobra gt also when i went to autofax they too said it was a cobra. The car has no cobra badging and the cobra intake has been changed to a Trick flo. How would i find out what ive got? I just got the car and want as much info as I can get i only payed 700 for it it has 47,000 miles but the tranny is out. Any info would be great

If you paid $700 for a 93 Cobra with 47k miles on it, I'll eat my hat. Plenty of people's registrations and titles say GT/Cobra here in the states and in Canada. You just a have a run-of-the-mill Mustang GT. Sorry to disappoint...

+1 another way to tell is the color. 1993 Cobras only came in Red, black and teal. The Cobra R was flat red I believe.

My Title for my 92 says CBR / GT, nothing out of the ordinary.

The most accurate way to tell if it's a true Cobra or not is the 8th character in the VIN. If it's not a D then it's not a Cobra.

My 91 is a cobra according to insurance....it's just how they classify those years. You don't have a cobra. But it does sound like you got a pretty decent deal.

The 93R came in Vibrant Red clearcoat

7 are rumored to have been painted "performance red". The rest were Vibrant Red.

No proof, but i remember this debate from years ago.
