93cobra intake wont work on a 95?!!

94opalgt....

The EGR.....I run no smog, so that hose for the EGR is gone....(these are the Red/Green lines that run to your smog stuff and into the fenderwell....plug em both good, and stash em in the fender..
The tube on top WOULD feed the oil fill tube, just like your 95 has a tube that feeds it...you dont need it....plug it....the cap I used can be found in most parts stores..
I was intent of a Fox swap so I knew the issues...Its not all that much money to get the hardware and a TB...like I said, I knew that going into it...

The intake sensor is for coolant temp...Your Cobra one uses the same set-up...I THINK the Foxes ran another sensor in that intake port, forgot what its name is??? But the 95 does not have that sensor...it's another style and place on our cars..

Under the upper....the Cobra used a "vac tree" for lack of a better explaination for all the feeds...its a large tube that threads into the hole you speak of... it then "tree's"...one main tube and 2 smaller ones...
..when getting a 93 style its always nice to have it...you'll have to fab something up I guess or locate one...I have not seen them for sale, nor do I know if Ford can get it for you???
You only require (4) vac feeds...the pcv feeds into the other tube on the lower....from the "tree" you feed (1) line to your vac Tee on the drivers fender, by the brake booster...(1) line to your FPR..(1) for the purge can sloeniod...thats it for vac lines...

The EGR...when you undo the electrical plug off the EGR a long plunger comes out...secure this to its 1/2 position...this will keep the light off...

Hope that helps you out some...

ok rio you are talkin me into it,now what intake tube set up are you using?i can see the on the upper part of the tube in your avatar.what are u running on the bottom?i was lookin at the c&l for a 96,looks like it would work, but then again i dont want to spend 150 on something i cant use.and i dont want something made out of pvc pipe either.any help here?
oh yeah thanks for takin the time to try to explain all this to me.

The sensor port behind the #5 runner in the lower intake is the Fox body's incoming air temperature sensor, the sensor that you have in your intake tube. You can just plug it with a 5\8" threaded pipe plug from Home Depot. Just for everyone's curiosity, the IAT sensor for Fox bodies and SN 5.0s are the same, they're just in different places.

Andy, you can get the vacuum tree from 50resto.com or from Late Model Restoration.

ok thanks 18mustangs,but the sensor on the stock lower you say is for coolant temp if its not there on the cobra then what do i do with the plug that went on it?if its not hooked up wont it send a code or something?

ok sorry, just got home from work and looked at the cobra lower and the coolant sensor is in the same spot as the stock one.now i have another question, there are two holes at the back of the intake just like the hole for the sensor.what are these for?should i just plug them?

You can use one of the holes for your factory temp sending unit if you want to run an aftermarket temp gauge and don't want a dead gauge in the factory dash.

The other hole is for the foxes that ran coolant lines from the back of the intake, through the throttlebody, and out to the heater return line. My 1991 Bronco had a similar setup that heated the intake charge for emissions reasons. 94-95 Mustangs don't have any sort of charge heater setup like this. You can block it unless you want to use it.

I'm thinking when I do my fox swap, I'll attach the coolant lines to the EGR spacer with a valve in-between so that when I go for my inspection sticker, I don't give the tech a reason to look harder at my car (MA inspections suck) and have it off most of the time or play with different valvings if I ever decide to get gas mileage.

You won't have the plug for the incoming air charge sensor over the #5 runner as you're not using a fox fuel injector harness. You'll simply use your stock sensor in the stock position in the air inlet after the fox throttle body conversion. Rio5.0 has some good pics of his setup where he tapped a hole into one of his C&L intake pipes for the sensor (in the stock position). I'm using PVC on a small section between my C&L pipe and the lower elbow if my MAC CAI that I tapped the proper sized hole.
The sensor behind the #5 runner is the air intake charge temperature sensor, it detects the temperature of the air you're engine is taking into the manifold. Our sensor is located in the cold air induction pipe or the stock rubber air inlet pipe. To fill the sensor port behind the #5 runner go to home depot, Lowe's or some other hardware store with a plumbing section and get a 5\8" pipe plug. Put some thread sealer on the plug and simply screw it into the unused port. If you send me a PM with an email address I can send you a picture of how my intake looks. Tim

I orginally bought a Explorer u/p...Then I decided to go the 93 upper....The explorer lower I had didn't have that #5 hole...It wasnt an issue on mine....

Sounds like the lower you have is better though...IF you decide to add an Autometer water temp, you use their sensor in your stock location....then put the stock sensor in a back port so you keep the factory gage from being dead... :nice: I bought the chrome FRPP thermo housing and put the factory sensor in it....your intake is better with those holes out back...

Putting our IAT in that #5 port could be an issue....I pushed more oil through the upper once I went from the stock upper...verified by oil in the ports when I removed it, like plenty of guys can verify on here once an intake swap is done...The IAT would freak out being covered in oil...
I just added a oil separator last week....in 50 miles or so it caught over a 1/4" of oil that was heading to the upper....These motors are famous for this....I noticed it when I first installed my Tmoss ported lower years ago....The oil sucking began..
Funny as my gas milage went to ass....Couldn't figure what the hell was going on....the state of tune is excellant ??? Well the first thing I noticed when the oil separator went on, is my milage...its like twice what it was??? I was woofing damn near a 3/16 tank in a 35 mile round trip to work...W.T.F. !! at 2.44 a gallon i was getting pissed..anyway, all last week I was using a 1/16 of a tank for the same trip....The freakin oil feeding into the motor musta been killing the milage.....Can't freakin believe the difference....I thought i was tripping there for a day or 2, I added 373's last Fall and was thinking those were the culprit...not the case...my milage came right back up....Weird but true...nothing has been touched since the day I took it outta Winter storage...Just thought I'd share that...I still cant belive it....
