upgrading air intake and throttle body to maybe 70mm . stock is 60mm I believe. What fuel upgrades should be needed with upgrading to a 70 or 75 mm with new intake . Want to make sure air/fuel ratio is balanced with less air restriction

None. Honestly this upgrade will give you absolutely ZERO benefit on a stock engine.

What do you suggest to increase performance with the stock engine .

I would look at suspension /chassis mods first. Subframes, K member brace, maybe a short throw shifter, gears

Alrighty spidey . Its an auto, 3.73 gears sound good ? not really looking for much so if 3.73 is to much then ill gladly decrease. should I also get the gear and pinion OR the gear and pinion w/ installation kit which includes :
  • Ford Racing 3.73 Gears: M-4209-88373
  • Ford Racing 8.8" Ring & Pinion Installation Kit: M-4210-B2
  • Redline Synthetic 75W90 Gear Oil (x2): 50304
  • Ford Racing Friction Modifier: M-19546-A12

Just the gear will do. 3.73s will be good for your car, but please be aware, on an auto, you will have to get a tuner to be able to change your shift points. If you don't, it will run through the gears quick, but hang for a second on the shift point and then shift really hard. The reason for hanging in the gear is because the car is ready to shift, but the computer is not. I ran into this on my 95 when it was auto and 3.73s.

I think a replacement gear set would be better saved as a later mod if it was me.

Get the engine to make more power before forcing a stock engine to spin higher.
Follow the light Carol Anne......there are a bazillion how to threads on the proper path to power on this forum alone. Get the engine to breathe better w/ a head/cam/intake/exhaust upgrade,.....
Then change the RPM band to suit it.

Forcing a stock engine to rev higher, and more quickly will just end up making a lot of noise for nothing.

Lets ask some questions here.
What are your intentions; race car, street/strip, weekend drive to the car shows, dailey driver.
In order to go fast you need to stop fast. These cars where equipped with granny driving to sunday school brakes, they will stop you but they are not good enought for haul'n you down from high speed more than once or twice, they are good but not high performance.
Why the long winded post about brakes? Most just think about going fast but not about haul'n that 3800 lbs of steel and plastic to a hault.
Make sure your suspension and brakes can handle the power you plan to put out.

You can still find the Ford Explorer GT40 upper & lower intakes at the wreaking yards. That will be a good start along with BBk full exhaust. I will post picture's of Mark 7 LSC (5.0 motor) soon
