O.k. 94'Gt. Is the timing spout connector the one located by the maf meter?
The reason I ask is...My car had been loosing power and started the detonation clacking crap. I looked for the spout connector and found only one by the maf sensor. I pulled it and set the timing to dead on. Replace it and the spark knock is still there. Put 93 octane in it and runs perfect. filled with 87 and noise. Checked timing again....dead on. Help

yes that is the spout wire... And if you had that plugged in while trying to time it you would know. It would be all over the place up towards 20* and higher... What did you set the timing at?

Yes, you found the spout.....Sounds like systems normal to me....either run 93 or back the timing down more if you wanna use 87....Hows the balancer??? high milage car and it could be off some....

My car is detonating just like yours it (10* timing also). When it's cold out, the detonation pretty much goes away. But when it's hot, there is nothing I can do about it. I have to run 91 octane or else it will detonate really bad.

Some people have had luck with a few fixes. Clean the MAF, replace the ECT/IAT sensor, run combustion chamber cleaner, replaced the fuel filter, check the fuel pressure, etc. So far, none of these have worked for me.

You can try any of the above, but you may have the same results that I have had.

My car was detonating too. I put timing to 8 degrees. That's only becuase I live arizona and it is like 115 here. I have still have some cracking sounds. It might be the EGR.
