i posted the same thread in the 94/95 and after i did i thought you guys could help me. i apologize for the double post but am desperate for help and answers. thank you

ford dealerships show two different part #'s but cant tell me if they are any different because they can only go back 10 years?

after my T5 to cobra T5 swap, i have vibration. if the car is in neutral or the clutch is depressed and i give throttle and i feel vibration, is that the flywheel? it also does it going down the road. seems to change with rpm.

i just had the cobra flywheel resurfaced b4 the swap. could the flywheel be bad? could the machine shop have screwed up? could i have screwed up?

can i just buy a new GT flywheel?

does anyone know if there is a weight difference in two???????????

please help

I had the two sitting right next to each other one time. I could not see any difference in the teeth, or the surface itself. I noticed the back side...which faces the engine....had a little bit different look to it....but not enough to make a difference I wouldn't think. I didn't even think to weight them....sorry.

Well I would wonder how the different engines are balanced.

Both the GT & Cobra's are 50 oz balance. They are interchangable. The only difference is the Cobra total weight is a little less than the GT's, only 3 lbs lighter in total weight, not the balance weight.
The one you got from Summit will work, even if it is for a fox. I have a fox billet flywheel on my Cobra.

I have a '95 Cobra; Last year I ordered a clutch + aluminum flywheel along with a few other parts from summit. I was putting together my order on their website, had my order ready to place and decided to give their tech department a call just to be sure i was ordering the right parts. Well, while talking to tech support they told me that I was going to order the wrong flywheel; it wasn't for the Cobra. He gave me a part number to enter into their search and it pulled up the correct flywheel. (the part number he gave me was only found when I manually entered the number, it wasnt showing up on their part list from browser)

I would suggest giving the tech department a call before placing your order, just to be safe.

why do you think its the flywheel?? because you put in a cobra tranny, doesnt mean you need a cobra flywheel.. only the guts in the tranny are different..
im guessing you bought a used tranny?? yes?

it vibrates while sitting still in gear or out also while driving. clutch in or out. flywheel is always turning, so thats why.

i didnt know if i needed a cobra fw or not, that was the whole reason for my post. was not sure if there was any difference. several other threads i have read and posted, some still stay there is a difference. summit and parts store all call for the same replacement fw as 50 oz.

the guts in the tranny are the same as a gt with the exception of phosphate coated gearsets.

trans is used yes

i would sell you the 95 cobra flywheel that i just replaced but here's what you need to know about it:

i bought it used and had it resurfaced. i installed it along with a different trans and i had vibration. i replaced it with a new flywheel i bought and most of the vibration went away but i still have some. there is about 25 miles on the resurfacing. i would sell it to you but just wanted to be up front.

im not sure if the flywheel has a problem or something else in my setup does. i have a new flywheel now and still have some vibration so i assume its something else.

all this has taken place within the last 6 weeks

let me know if you are interested
