I have never heard of a 1995 Factory Cobra R Race car.... anyone else ever?

Well Ford intended them for racing only, that is why you needed a racing license to buy one. The owner really hacked that one up though, what a shame.

Yes, it appears to be a real Cobra R which were intended as said above to be purchased for racing only.

shame a rare car like that was hacked up, but well it is doing what it was suppose to do, but for didnt make those so we can go racing but i think it was so they can qualify in the factory stock series

After the success of the 1993 SVT Mustang Cobra R, SVT and its engineers started planning for a more powerful Cobra R competition package based on the SN95 platform. Only 250 vehicles were built, with the 1995 edition varying greatly from its predecessor. Requests for a larger engine were granted, with the 1995 offering a 300-hp 5.8L V-8. Another racing modification made was for more fuel capacity, as a 20 gallon Fuel-Safe™ fuel cell was included. Heavy-duty progressive-rate springs improved suspension, thicker stabilizer bars were added, and a front strut tower brace was also included to enhance structural rigidity. To handle the torque of the more powerful engine, a Tremec™ five-speed manual transmission was installed. External changes included the installation of a hood tall enough to clear the engine and induction system. Also, the fog lights were omitted, replaced by ducts to channel cool air to the front brakes. The R model reached 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and topped out at 152mph. Only 250 were made, and all were white. An NHRA licensed was required to purchase a 1995 SVT Cobra R.

You people kill me. Hacked it up? It's not a Ferrari. Drive the damn cars you have. I hate going to car shows and seeing all these amazing vehicles getting loaded on and off trailers. Then they come out and just sit there. That does nothing for me.

Its a race car, they raced it... what do you want? I'd rather see a Cobra R that has been driven for its purpose instead of sitting in a garage / trailer its whole life. It's not a piece of furniture.

I don't know what you guys expect, but you bet your ass if I owned a Cobra R I would be putting it through its paces as well.

You know thank god you dont own any rare cars...And they probably made less cobra Rs that year than ferrarri did ....it is a rare car...you wont go and hack up a 67 gt500 would you. one thing if driving it and enjoying the car sure thats what you have them for.Jay Leno has one of the greatest personal car collections and he drives every single one. ...There is a difference between cars you can wreck and replace the next day becuz there are 20,000 of them out there, and then theres the ones that you cant.

Look at the sweet bumper cover alignment going on with the passenger side headlight pic. Does it look like it's been in an accident, albeit slight?

Also, the door panels are hacked for no reason, I'm not debating driving the damn thing, beat the piss out of it. That's what it's meant for, but there are a few cosmetics that could be cleaned up a little bit, thats all.

Its rare. Yes. But Ford intended it for racing purposes. You couldnt just go out and buy one without having a racing license. Theres nothing wrong about having used the car for what it was designed to do. Now I probably would rather just build up a GT coupe to race with, but thats just because it wouldnt be cost effective to use an R.

Ever seen a GT500 that they did race, they did basically the same things to those as this 95 R has done to it. Yeah, it looks like hell with the air bags pulled and door panels hacked, but because the motor looks to be completely stock, he may have raced it in a factory stock class that only allows weight reduction. If he put a body kit on this car, then I would have a different opinion, but I think he did with this car what it was intended to do: RACE! To each his own when it comes to cars like this, everyone has their own ideas of what they should do with rare cars.

I would hope that the 95r's are underrated as the 94-95 cobras are, because while It is an awesome car, 300hp is a little low, I would think they are quicker than that.

air bags would be no big deal and the doors were cut for the roll cage so it wasn't just to hack it. If you look you car see its where the cage meets the door. I think it looks sweet. If you really wanted to you could do some fiberglassing to the panels to make it look better

If you mean no big deal to replace them, I would check again. Ask a dealer to quote you a price on what replacements for our cars cost. That's why sometimes insurance companies will "total" a mere fender bender if the bags pop on older cars.

I know there expensive but I ment if it was that big of a deal to the person who bought it they could be replaced. So that part of the "hacked" factor was gone

Sorry but all this rare car bull$hit aside, if that car landed in my hands it would be driven hard................VERY hard. Not winding that thing out is like keeping a bird in a cage. I think the cages and full race enterior only add to the car's intended purpose. As rare as it is, its not meant to look pretty all its life. The guy that did all that work only beefed the car up first before he let it out of its cage.
