Where do I start... um second gear went out in my AOD, and a couple hundred miles later the torque converter isn't locking up... or something. The tranny won't hold a gear. I managed to limp back to my garage and the garage is where my other half is going to sit until I get the parts I need~
I think this is the perfect opportunity to do a manual changeover... why dad decided to buy an auto GT, I don't know. I think it was the hills of San Fran that made him decide on it. anyway. stangparts.com looks like my best bet... I'm going to call them tomorrow to ask about tranny swap kits. I found a couple in town (Vegas) but when I told them I wasn't with any 'shop', they gave me an outrageous price... and added,"along with your old transmission." It was a good laugh.
I'm military by profession but a mechanic by trade... I have full access to our shop on the weekends and holidays. With a couple extra hands and some cases of beer I should be able to knock this b*tch out in a weekend.
