I bought a 95 Gt with 5.0 a few months ago. After purchase I drove the car from Denver Col. to Amarillo TX. Went about doing general maintenance on the car and found that the SPOUT was missing. Purchased the SPOUT and found that when it was put in the car the car would stop running and when SPOUT is in the car it would not start.

The car has a new battery, coil, dizzy, MAF was cleaned. I had the serpentine belt replaced and the Harmonic Balancer replaced it had spun. Base timing was set at 12 with the SPOUT out. The car was set at dead center on (1) and the dizzy is in the right place. With all that done I attempted to start the car with the Spout in the car with no luck. Started the car put SPOUT in and it idled faster around 900 RPM and stayed running until I attempted to give it some gas. When I give it a little gas it stops running.

I warmed the car up put the SPOUT in and did a KOEO test and showed no codes got a 111 that means all is good. Did the KOER and got no codes with a 111 showing all is good. Strange thing is during the KOER test the car is revved up by the ECM and did not stop and all of test was completed. I do not think it is the ECM with all the codes cleared and the car is advancing the idle but stops when given a little gas. I have an extra ECM and car does same thing with both. The Balancer, stabbing the dizzy right and setting the timing was done by a good auto mechanic.

So, AHHHHH! if anyone has any ideas, direction, suggestion, or just a kind word it would help. I am not a car mechanic so I need any response said in simple terms. My car has only 92,000 miles and everyone thinks it is new. I am an older guy and this is a bucket list deal for me. Love the car and I am not driving it until I get the problem solved. Thanks

I can only think that you TPS sensor is bad. This sensor calculates load and adjusts timing accordingly.

If you are running the ECM test and the car can rev itself using the IAC valve to allow more air in (not by the use of the Throttle Body) and it is fine.

It seems that would be the issue. make sure the TPS sensor is plugged in (test voltage - should be 1.0v or less) Could be a burnt wire under there or a bad TPS sensor.

Thats the only thing I can thing of right now

Wow! thanks for the info. I did go out and tap on the TPS with the handle of a screw driver. After I did that, I started the car, put the SPOUT in and it allowed me to rev the engine.....
I did drive it for about a block stepped on the gas and it died. It would not start again until I pulled the SPOUT. The fact it let me rev and run it at all with the SPOUT in was a step forward. I have ordered a new TPS for my model. I am thinking of cleaning the IAC area inside the throttle and replace the IAC anyway. I plan to own this car for a very long time and so getting things done now might make less problems in the future. I hope with the IAC and the TPS replaced I will be able to run and start the car with the SPOUT in. I will let you know what happens. If you check on my post I would much appreciate it...

That is an odd issue for sure. Someone else had this issue not too long ago and his problem was he was reading the timing in the wrong place on the pointer. Can you describe which part of the timing pointer you're referencing.

Also check the spout connector wiring all the way to it's source to make sure it's not grounding/shorting out on the frame somewhere. The TFI module might be something to look at?

I did a little reading about this situation and came across this thread: http://www.allfordmustangs.com/foru...95-mustang-gt-5-0-no-crank-spark-w-spout.html

He goes on to say it turned out to be a bad MAF. I see in your first post you said you cleaned it, but not replaced it. Maybe that's a good place to look.
