first things frist...

Change plugs, wires, cap, rotor and then see where you are. My car was the same and when I changed plugs they were the factory plugs with 123k miles on them and up to .130" gap... due to this and the factory wires the electrode on the coil was shot too...

Then clean the MAF and all of the other easy and cheap stuff... you are going to want to pretty soon anyways...

The guy I bought the car from had already changed the plug wires,cap,and rotor. He said he changed the plugs too but I am going to pull them and make sure they are not fouled. I am headed to town now to get the fuel filter. I do not own a timing light so I am taking it to a mechanic today to get that done as well. It has got to be something simple. It runs too smooth at idle to be bad.

I quite doing that a while ago when you start getting older the hang overs get pretty bad.

Project: Sick stang

Day two and still no avail. I have cleaned my MAF sensor and ATI. I have changed my fuel filter and added some fuel injector cleaner. I have yet to check the timing or pull the codes. I don't have a timing light so I am trying to find one.

Smoothie have you pulled the plugs to check them yet. I wasnt joking about plugs telling whats going on w/ your car. i would definately check them. Hitting a brick wall at 4000 with no further power avail to me indicates one of two things, your running out of fuel up top or your loosing spark at wot. If you check your plugs they will indicate in which direction you should be looking. Your timing may or may not be on but it cant be that far off to hold your car back at 4000. IMO it sounds fuel related. I would verify fuel pressure under load w/ a guage. Also complete the tune up list refered to by the others. good luck

An inductive timing light can be had cheap and the first time you dont take the car to the mechanic (to set timing), it pays for itself (it's pretty invaluable).

I wouldnt trust any parts not installed by myself. I agree about pulling and checking parts. Might want to check wires for a light show - that can knock the poop out of your pants if leaking bad enough.
