Ok I just got a 95 mustang with a blown head gasket, so what I want to do is swap out the motor with a 94-95 mustang 5.0 GT motor and also swap out the auto tranny with a 5 speed tranny so I was wondering how much it would cost and how hard it would be and what I all need

well im assuming that you have a 3.8L if you plan on swaping the motor because of a blown head gasket:D . i did this swap on mine so hears what you need.

1. the engine ( I paid 1500 for a cobra engine)
2. engine wiring harness including the ECM, CCRM, TFI and any other v8 related sensors.( paid 300 from mpsautosalvage.com)
3. youll want to swap out your gauges too.
other than that the rest is obvious things such as exhaust and a new intake tubing. didnt do the auto to stick swap so maybe some one else can help on that. plus anything i might have left out:nice:

good luck, its alot of fun youll enjoy it

Granted the 7.5 is obviously weaker than the 8.8 since the 8.8 has more meat, but a 7.5 with a good trac-loc is capable of holding up to 300rwhp or so. So for a stock engine, the stock 7.5 will be fine if you don't mind 1 wheel burn outs.

Thanks Im looking forward to it and driving it this summer. Ow yea an one wheel burn outs just don't cut for me cause my uncle has an 05 stang GT and I gotta show him how its done and also give him a run for his money on the track!

Not cheap... You kiddin.. I did my first one for less than 600 Bucks. Another person I help did his didn't cost him a dime. He bought a donor car and used what he needed and parted the rest and made money on it. Junk Yards here want 500 for a GT engine but 100 for a 91-93 T-bird 302 engine. Its the same engine except for the TB linkage is different and Alt bracket is different. You can do this swap cheap. For the 8.8 you can find people selling TurboCoupe Rear ends with gears and differentials for 125. All you have to do is use your 7.5 axles and brakes and you got an 8.8. So there are ways of doing the swap cheap. You just need to know where to look.

you can use the previous versions on the 5.0 out of mustangs. But you will and I recommend to swap in a 94-95 Distributor and fuel rail so you can utilize the 94-95GT/Cobra Engine wiring. Also be prepared to clearance issue with the water pump and electric fan. You could put a 94-95 Timing Chain cover and pump to fix the cleanance issue but then you have to run all 94-95 accessories. So now your back to basically a 94-95 5.0 engine with a fox intake.

The 4.6L can be done but its a much much longer process and in my opinion not worth it unless its a 32V motor.

ok thanks for the info, I appreciate it I didnt realy want to put the police car motor in it any way and the older 5.0s are realy cheap around here and I thought It would maybe be a easy swap.

the 94-95 T-5's had a longer input shaft than the 93 and below ones. If your getting the motor and trans stuff seperate than I recommend looking for a 94-95 trans. There are some guys running 93 and below trannies but it moves things forward: shifter , trans mount, etc. You could ask one of them about the details.

Thanks
Ok now one of my dads friend had a 87-88 5.0 high output with an auto tranny and headers that my dad picked up for $400 what a deal huh but the way you guys are makin it sound is that I should just by a donar car and use that so i want someones opinion on what to do in this situation try to put it in a or try to sell it and buy a donar car. If I should keep it were can I find the stuff i need to put it in and if I should buy a donar car where can I find one around Minnesota:shrug:

I bought a donor car as well. I bought the car for 800 and probably the total including the price of the car was 1200 to do the swap. very easy swap but I would definitely buy a donor car if you can find one. It is much much easier.

keep in mind an 88 5.0 is speed density and not mass air so thatd limit future power upgrades. if you dont need the car for a daily driver youd be better off saving for the appropriate parts from the get go. if you plan on hanging with the newer stangs you might be better suited finding a good block and then get it stroked and maybe do a trickflow hci and youll be ready to rock. if you plan on just putting a stocker between the fenders youll be starting about 75 horses behind a stock 05 gt.

I have a 95 Mustang V6 with a blown engine. I know where I can get a running 302 boss edition for the trouble of pulling it. Can I put this engine in my 95? If not, can I put an older mustang 302? (have one of those in my garage) If someone wants to give me any information I would be very grateful. [email protected]
