Guys,

Car acted up big time this morning....white smoke, sulfer smell (very acidic) and runs like theres 2-3 spark wires disconected. Here's what I've done over the past 1-2 months:

1. New CCRM
2. ERG3. I'm getting Normal Fuel Pressure (Autometer gauge)
4. Battery is good
5. Changed Radiator Fluid about 2 months ago
6. New 180 degree thermostat
7. New O2 sensors
8. Fuses all OK

Car has had the "Engine" light on and has been running hot (when AC is on). I've noticed when parking in the garage a slight smell of radiator fluid but don't see any leaks (no puddles). Also, the outlet pipe for the radiator look bloated when hot. Car ran fine yesterday...

Also, I was going to clean the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) since I've had some eratic idles (I've read the forum and found some simular issues I've been having). I'm thinking of just going out and buying a new one...$30.

Any suggestions would be helpfull....thanks.

robert

i hate to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds like a blown head gasket (white smoke from exhaust) pull the plugs and take a look at those also when the car is cold and remove the rad cap then start the car and look for bubbles in the antifreeze

Unble to read codes...

Hi,

I rented a code reader from O'Reilly ($200 deposit) and made sure my connections where clean and am unable to make a connection to read the codes. The unit comes back that its failed to connect.....Any suggestions. I even tried the connection (odb II) under the driver side dash.

Robert

94/95 are obd1 and the port under the dash doesn't work for that. the connection for codes on our cars are under the hood by the passenger shock tower near the fire wall. if your reader can't hook up to the connectors under hood then you can use the paper clip method outlined in a haynes manual

I'll bet they gave you the wrong code reader. The correct one does not to my knowledge give a text message. You want the OBD-1 reader good for years '81 - '95. (with some qualifications). Since I no longer need mine with the AEM-EMS, PM me if you are interested.
