Ive narrowed down the list, is one better than the other? I know about the technical aspects, but Im just trying to get personal opinions of these cars.
Thanx

Comparing a 5.0 to the 4.6 DOHC is a bit hard to do. The 95 if well driven can be torquey enough to feel stronger in the low-mid range, but the top end of the DOHC comes on strong and just keeps going where the 5.0 runs out of breath...stock for stock, mod for mod of course. I used to have a 95 Cobra and I progessively made a few mods to it over time with most of that being exhaust. At its prime, it had long tubes, hi-flow cats and a Dynomax exhaust with a K&N filter and a 70mm throttle body. Even with the stock gears, it was pretty strong. I used to get hunted down often by this dude in a 95 LT1 Corvette 6 speed and in the beginning he would edge me out, but with everything mentioned and powershifting I eventually was hanging with him door handle to door handle all the way up into 3rd gear. Not to bad with just 3.08s. As with most Mustangs, there is some power to be had in opening up the exhaust. I also put 120,000 miles on that Cobra and never had any engine, tranny or rear end problems with it. For the most part, it was very reliable and trouble-free.

I went 4.6 for a few reasons; better hood, better tail lights, better engine. I've loved 'em since they first came out.

I have a 95 cobra and a 99 cobra. The 95 cobra is my sunday cruiser while the 99 cobra is the one im modding. I personally think the 95 cobra is the best looking cobra from that body style. My 95 cobra has 100,000 miles on it and is still running strong. its all stock except for a pro 5.0 shifter and 3.55 gears. its very injoyable to drive and i love the torque.

5.0 Snake = Decent looking, mid 14 second car.

4.6 Snake = Good looking, mid-high 13 second car.

5.0 240hp/289tq vs. 4.6 305hp/300tq. The 4.6 is a high revver, and feels kinda meager in the low RPM, but once you get above 3000rpm, the power just keeps going and going...

The 95 is a 5.0 like others have said. The 5.0 is alot cheaper and easier to get moving. There are also endless options available. The torque is much better. It sounds beefier too. I test drove a 4.6 and it felt weak. Anyways it comes down to what you want really. Stock for stock, 4.6 is a little quicker, but add some money the 5.0 starts kicking more ass.

Money can make either car fast. I was orginally looking for a DOHC car, but came across a good deal on my 94. I ended up with this one, mainly because of the aftermarket parts available for it as well, I felt I could do more of the work myself on the motor itself.

IT is all personal preference, my brother has a 98 Cobra and it just has a different feel than mine, so just drive both and see which one fits your style as well. Also be careful with the HP numbers being shown around. The 94-95 have been proven to be very underated from Ford. My car has exhaust, a bigger MAF, for power mods and is dynoing at 259rwhp and 298rwtq, so that is only a few off of a similar modded DOHC.

Good luck

I WOULD SAY 94/95 LAST OF THE PUSHRODS THEY MIGHT BE WORTH A LITTLE MORE DOWN THE ROAD,PLUS MORE MOD POTENTIAL FOR LESS $

96-98 with gears exhaust, basic bolt-ons with traction, high 12's

94-95 with gears exhaust, basic bolt-ons with traction, high 13's

I guess it's all what you want, I love 5 liters and always will but I can't get over the sound off a 4v wailing away at 7000 rpm's.

The only real benefit of getting a 5.0 Cobra is price and a little more low RPM torque.

I forgot to mention I have driven a '95 5.0 Cobra, and currently own the '97 Cobra in my sig.

The 95 had a little more oomph in the low RPM, but the 4V's just scream above 3k. The 4V just keeps tugging and tugging, its a nice sensation. Both are sweet, but the 4V is such a sweet motor, and the 5.slow is kinda old....it was also very hard to find a 94-95 Cobra in good condition, the one I drove had chips, dings, faded taillights, faded interior, felt really cheap, etc.
