do you have to put diffrent struts on a fox body when you do a 5-lug conversion with 95 spindles. Something about the mounting hole for the spindle to the strut wont line up right. Please help anyone.

i used the same struts on my 8 with 95 spindles, the shims had to be moved to the same side to tighten the ball joint nut. you have to use a .330 inch spacer on the ball joint stud or you will run out of threads. aslo you will have to reset the toe. you will be WAY toed in.

struts

The struts are the same. The stroke length may be different but the hole alignment is the same.
I have the front shocks out of a 97 mustang (Bilstein) my 88 fox with the stock suspension. So your curent shocks will work with the new 5 lug spindles.

Struts stay the same. But, you need a washer for the nut under the ball joint since the sn95 ball joint mount is thinner.http://www.breezeautomotive.com/details.php?prod_id=249&cat_id=34

This 1/4" thick hardened washer installs under the lower ball joint castle nut and washer, when using SN-95 Spindles with 87-93 Ford press-in Ball Joints.(all stamped steel Mustang control arms and the improved FFR Tubular arms.) The purpose of the washer is to allow the cotter pin hole to line up with the slots in the castle nut when the nut is tightened. This is the same approach as used by Ford Racing in the M-2300-K Cobra Brake Kit. Supplied in bare steel - requires painting. 2 per car.

I used the same dimension washers as in that link and my shocks ended up hitting the washer. Might just be the tokico shocks I used but I needed to grind down the washers quite a bit.

You can use either the Fox Struts or the SN95 Struts, but if you lower the car the SN95 Struts will have less travel. I have 01 Bullitt Springs, Struts, and Shocks on mine and it is fine.

You can get 94-95 ball joints and not have to use the spacer.

I just used three 5/8" SAE washers. The SAE washers are thicker and have a smaller outside diameter that clears the strut bottom better.
