So I just picked up a 1995 V6 3.8 Mustang for $400
It's red with major clear coat peal. I seen it's potential because I do auto body repair.. Anyway when I bought it and took it home the next day it started over heating, I took out the thermostat did a radiator flush put back the fluids and nothin.. I than noticed the steam on my windshield and the passenger side floor was getting wet.... Figured maybe the heater core is causing all this not sure I want to tackle the whole installation deal.. So what I'm trying to figure out is how can I bypass it and what will I need? As well where would you suggest I get what I need to do this? I'm in the socal area, Norwalk to be exact. thanks in advance fellas!

To bypass the heater core, loop the heater hoses. Do not cap/plug. The flow is needed to purge the air from the motor.

When you re-filled the V6 cooling system, did you follow the V6 coolant re-fill procedures exactly?

Regarding replacing the heater core. The entire dash has to come out. I have done it. I won't lie, it's a big job. Having a good service manual is a must. The Ford service DVD or Chiltion both have good instructions. IMO, for the dash removal, the Chilton's version is slightly better.

If you need copies of Ford service manual, wiring diagrams, or power train manuals, I maybe able to help. PM if interested.

After reading that thread it seems like I got a head ache comming my way I have that brownish red build up in the radiator, cap wasn't holding compression so I bought a new one, also have the build up going to the thermostat area straight into the hole it's placed on motor... I'm guessing this dude who owned the car never put coolant and was going straight water I have a lot to do today. Thanks for the great info bro
