95gt brakes to 98 Cobra?

has anyone else done this swap without swapping the MC and it worked just fine or am I gona have to get a better MC???

Again, no. The rear GT rotors aren't vented, therefore they are much thinner then BOTH the Cobras, and the stock front GT (what you want to use) rotors. FYI: If you use the 98 spindles, they will push your front wheels out by 8mm each side, and the endlinks have to be adjusted for the differently angled steering arms on the 98 spindles. Put the Cobra rotors, calipers, and lines on YOUR car, and sell the 98 spindles to make some cash back.

You can run the GT MC, but the pedal will feel stiff. That's why the FRPP kit comes with an MC. you need a Cobra MC.

So does anyone know what 95litergt was saying about the 94+ master cylinders not just bolting right in but the 93 cobra ones were a direct fit? If someone knows let me know so I can find the one that is easiest to put in. If the 93 Cobra is a direct fit I will get that one but if not I guess ill just have to modify one to work.

im looking on maximummotorsports.com and it says the 93 cobra MC is 1" bore and the one that says 94 gt is 1 1/16"...the bigger the better right??? help!!! if someone can point me at the one i should get that has done this before thta would be a huge help. look under master cyclinder upgrades in the online catalog

i might do this myself this weekend, and i'm pretty sure i saw a write-up to convert to front cobra brakes--can't for the life of me seem to find it. anyone have a link?

I would trust what Maximum Motorsports says I've had nothing but good experience with them. The cobra mc bore size is 15/16" and the above info seems to be correct on the GT being 1 1/16" and 93 cobra mc's being 1". I stand corrected about the 93 mc being the same as the 94+ cobra.

yea if anyone knows where a writeup on doing this conversion for our year cars that would help out a lot. im really confused as to why the gt MC's bore is bigger then the cobra? and why do i need to change to a smaller bore MC for bigger brakes??? HELP!!!

I don't know the physics behind it, but the bigger the bore, the heavier the pedal. If you run the 13" rotors and Cobra calipers, GET the 94/95 Cobra MC. The reasons the Cobra have different fitting is so the factory didn't install the wrong MCs on the wrong cars (I believe the threads in the ports are just switch, so swapping the fittings that go in the front and rear ports would work).

The swap really isn't difficult, and I've answered your questions, but you seem to get a little lost in my answers, maybe it's me, maybe your not reading caredully. Let me go step by step for your car to simplify it:
13" rotors
USE YOUR STOCK SPINDLES
Cobra calipers
Cobra (94/95) MC
Cobra soft/braided lines (You CAN reuse your stock lines, but you need a new banjo bolt to fit the new calipers)

Looking at what you got your hands on, just go buy a Cobra MC (I believe 50resto.com sells them, around $150 new). Swap all the parts, but DON'T use the 98 spindles. Anyhting else you need cleared up?

Why not make it a little simpler, do everything except the cobra master cylinder. If you don't like the feel of the pedal then swap the master cylinder. I have run the complete cobra brake kit, except the master cylinder for 3 years now with absolutley no problems.

This will not work, I upgraded my brakes and had to use Stainless steel braded lines.

I also installed Mach I and Cobra rear brakes on my new project and did not replace the MC and the brakes work great.....
