I can pick up a good running 4.6L fairly cheap to replace my old 302 in my 82', i already bought another 68' longblock to rebuild for it, but instead of rebuilding the 302 i was wondering if all the effort to install this EFI 4.6 would be worth it in the end, the engine is out of a 96' T-bird, and will come with any and all the parts i need/want off the car, thanks

you would need new motor mounts, trans crossmember (maybe), correct engine harness, correct ECU, and possibly all new gauges...

seems like alot of work...

you will be losing power and money.....the 96 motors had NPI heads and made around 185-190rwhp with not much future in power without a PI headswap, and then when the pi head swap is done, the compression is so high that a blower is out of the question! Bottom line, stick with your orginal plans and save yourself time, headache, money ! Im a prime example of somone who have given up hopes of modular power on any kind of conservative budget and have since gone back to pusrod! Im not saying that modular motors can not make HUGE power, but unless you have an endless chain of money you can pull out of your ass.Take it from me (look at my screen name!)....stay pushrod

NPI- cylinder heads on 2v modular motors from 92 until 1998........ NPI=NonPowerImproved. PI- Revised more effecient, bigger valved cylinder head, on 99 And up 2v modular motors, netting around 40more hp! PI=PowerImproved

ok, thats what i thought, i can get the entire car(rear end and drivers side is smashed) for the same price as just the engine, so i thought i'd ask the pro's(stangnet), thanks for crushing my dreams of my 82 ever being modular!! haha j/k, i appreciate the advice and it sirely would be well known on the forum if i did this, as the "suicide swap"..

The choke ended up being in the intake and not the heads. I used to own a 96 GT and only swapped out the intake. Gained power and kept the compression down. The big gains seen with the PI head swap on a 96-98 was partly due to the increase in compression. However, it seems like way to much work for no gain. The 4.6 takes some good money to go fast. Why do you think I am back to a Fox and a 302 based stroker

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
