well I still have my PI engine in there...I can swap in whatever parts necessary.
my other concern is the computer...I assume I'd have to stick w/ the COP setup from my current engine...I'd prefer a ca and wires but I don't think the ecu would agree.
you can swap your heads and intake over to that shortblock.. i would assume you would need the mustang oil pan also.. you would have to stay with the cops system unless you wanted to re wire
You would still be slower then before. You would loose compression putting the PI heads on the non-pi block. But why would you want to do this? Technically, its illegal too. Not that anyone would notice though.
Other way around my friend. PI heads on early Non PI engines will raise your compression ratio, not lower it.
You may also need to swap out your current timing cover and accesories as well....and you'll need to find yourself the proper set of valve covers. The Crown Vic has the oil fill level on the opposite side (drivers) as opposed to your 2000 Mustang, that will have it on the passenger side. And the covers aren't interchangeable since your 2000 utilizes a Windsor long block and the '96 Crown Vic I believe utilizes a Romeo long block. There are probably some other minor differences between the two as well, but you're not likely to notice them until you're elbows deep.....so keep a few dollars aside for incidentals.
reason being It was oil starved but I didn't know it (inaccurate dipstick) and I have spun at least one bearing and now it's burning oil among other things...
I may just say screw it and wait til theres a later model stang engine out there.
the reason im contemplating the crown vic engine is its 100$
all the gaskets, bolts and everything would run up about 150.. its not a bad deal its just some work.. if i was presented with your problem i would prolly do it..
