Hey guys, i've been reading around the site here and there for about a month now and i wanna know what opinions and advice i can get about what to look out for on a 96 gt swapped with a slightly newer gt engine. It would be my first stang and im not in a rush to buy but if it seems like a deal i might pull the trigger on it.

1996 Mustang GT 4.6 5 speed

I know their aren't many details about the car in the ad but i just wanna get a good idea of what im getting into. Thanks in advanced

Ask for reciepts on the motor and who did the work. Also, how many miles on the body? Seeing as the hod and front bumper have been replaced and not painted it won't appear on the CarFax but I would bet alot of money that it has been wrecked in the front. Cosmetic pieces arn't always what they are made out to be particularly if they haven't even taken the time to paint them. Check the fenders out under the hood line and make sure they line up, that will be a tale-tale sign on how bad the wreck was. Crawl underneath the car and inspect everything. A complete paintjob if you are looking for that won't be a cheap thing either keep that in mind.

I was kind of thinking that because he put a new bumper and hood on it maybe it was in an accident, but i also thought that it was more of a project that was never completely finished due to funds.. I emailed him about the mileage on the body/transmission and any recent work with no reply yet but if i get a chance i will def get the carfax and take a ride to check it out. Also what sort of damage might i wanna look out for, possibly a bent frame too?
