96 mustang hood latch mechanism

I recently got a 96 GT the hood seems to be missing a striker pin.the catch goes into the square hole,but there is no pin for the latch to engage.

Probably.

I'll look at mine in the morning and see what it's supposed to look like.

OK, looked at mine this morning and the square metal ring around the opening is the catch. There's no pin or anything else in there.

Are you having trouble with the hood staying closed?
