97 / 2000 4r70w interchangeable?

My 97 GT 4r70w is shot after 124,000 miles. Is a 2000 GT 4r70w transmission a direct fit?

yes they should be interchangeable. they are the same casings. the only ones that do not work are the aode from the 94-5 gt that only have 2 starter bolts.

It will work, but you will need to make internal changes on the newer 4R70W for it to work properly and not get fried.

i'd almost guarantee the internals are the same

it should bolt right up. the computer controls everything anyway so i dont see a problem hooking it up

I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE ELECTRONICS INSIDE ARE NOT THE SAME AND HE NEEDS TO SWAP HIS IN AND A FEW OTHER THINGS OR HE WILL FRY THE NEW TRANSMISSION!

there are no electronics IN the transmission, just gearsets and clutches

the valve body might be different, but even then i don't see it being all that different



you know for a FACT though, i was just swagging (scientific wild ass guess)
