Anything one needs to look out for when swapping one of these motors into a carbed fox? Particularly with the 1997-2000 Exploder motors.

• Change distributor gear from bronze to steel, if prev. motor was flat tappet.
• Make sure to use 50 oz. flywheel & harmonic balancer.
• Change timing cover if you need mechanical fuel pump provision.

What about the Water Pump, Oil Pan, & Oil Pickup?

Anything I'm missing?

Need foxbody oil pan pickup tube and the main cap bolt and nut for the pick up tube bolt down. While the old motor is out put new mounts in. Use the convertable mounts they are stronger. If your buying all this new spend the same cash and do a 351w swap

351 swap will cost a lot more abd with no money put into heads/ intake will still make 302 power.

So a foxbody 302's main cap bolt and nut is different? No thanks on the 351W. Thanks though. Got vert mounts. No difference in water pump?

Truth^^ Ha-ha I'm still waiting on my fordstrokers motor . This is to just get me by, tired of having a bad cylinder. Also how much are headers for the P heads? I can get P heads for an extra $200. I figured by the time I buy the headers I'd be too much invested, just to get me by.

you do not use a bronze gear. you can run a composite gear.

In what motor? I'm pretty sure distributor's for stock flat tappet cams run bronze gears, even if that's not what's recommended due to quick wear.

bronze gears are used on steel cams.

steel gear on non steel roller cam.

cast gear on non steel flat tappet cam

composite gears can be used on any cam.

I imagine to stay minimum budget, the extra $200 for the GT40P's isn't worth it. Since I would want the TFS spring kit, roller rockers, & FRPP headers. That would kick it up to $600-ish extra, not including the heads themselves.
