97 cobra supercharged motor in an 03 GT? will it work

so i may possibly be able to buy a 97 cobra motor with a vortech supercharger that is fully built up and only has about 10,000 miles on it. I have a stock 03 gt right now. will this bolt up to my transmission? i would be getting a new clutch to handle the power but i wasn't sure if it actually would fit. i havn't actually seen the motor yet/ ( or come to a price) but i'm told the motor is perfect and when he had it in his cobra it had more than 500 rwhp. he said he only had it in for 10,000 miles or so and now its just sitting around (he replaced it with a different fully built Kenne Bell cobra motor that has over 700 rwhp)

i'm a valet and this guy came into work in his sl63 AMG and i got to talking to him and mentioned a may have bent a rod in my mustang... yadda yadda yadda now i might be able to buy this motor from him (if it will match up to my transmission and i can afford it)

i'm going to look at it tomorrow so i'll get some more details on the specs of the motor but wanted to see if anyone knew about the 97 cobra motor and an 03 gt transmission

hell yes it is, youll need an 8 bolt flywheel for the cobra's crank, but other than that it will drop into place and all bolt up, youll need to eliminate the irmc plates, because the gt comp doesnt have that capability. youll need a 96-98 cobra throttle cable, and make sure the engine comes with the headers, that should be all the crap youll need, after that, put in a 255lb with a pusher pump and tune it..

Good advice given. I would add....set some extra money aside for odds and ends that you're not expecting to encounter. Its engine swap projects just like this that can sneak up on you and become a financial drain on your wallet if you're not careful. :nice:

you would also need coil over plugs swap, the cobras that year have a return style fuel system, your gt as a return less setup. Also the air temp sensor in 2002-2004 gt's are built into the maf, so if you have to run a different maf on the setup you have to convert that as well.

i would just put a 180 stat in there, unless your going to go 160 mph for an extended time period lol

if you do go with the swap, before you even drive it, i would take it to get it tuned, nothing like blowing up a new engine.. take it from us morons that have done it before..
