97 Escort--Emissions Valve Issue

I'm not sure what the exact name is, I have it on a piece of paper in the car. But, the engine light is on, and I had autozone pull the code. It's for one of the valves dealing with the emissions stuff--the charcoal canister deal. I'm wondering where the valve is located? Is there one by the charcoal cansiter or is it by the fuel tank? I looked today by the canister and I didnt find anything relating to a valve that I could remove or anything. Anyone have any ideas? I can get the actual code explanation if it's needed. I'm just too lazy to go out to my car right now!

Is it the canister purge valve?? if so its in the back of the car like under the trunk on the driverside.. right behind the bumper.. I believe its surrounded by plastic

The code number is P1443 I think.... Evap Emission Control System Control Valve. Is this the valve you're referring to?
