I have a 97 Mustang GT that has a low RPM problem when in gear. It surges when I give it throttle at low RPM and it will sometimes backfire through aircleaner if I give it alot of throttle. It is basically stock except for a K & N aircleaner and a 2.5" catback exhaust. Any ideas?
Thanks

My 03 GT surges at about 1200-1400 RPMS while driving.
More noticeable when the motor is cold.
It has for the last couple of years.

Just pulled and cleaned my MAF this weekend.

It's still surging.

Next I'm going to change my EGR, I think!

I had a similar problem with my 97 gt. I used some injector cleaner and also replaced my fuel pressure regulator with a BBK adjustable one and set it to 40 psi and now mine run fine. You might want to try the injector cleaner.

I had something simliar recently and found out that the number 8 plug wire was a bit coroded, not sure how, its only been 3 years since i last replaced it. But once i changed the wires, its back to new.
