98 ABS problems

My ABS light is off, but it doesnt engage when i brake in a slick area. I checked the fuse and its fine, I read in the manual if there is a problem and light doesnt come on, that it was disable ABS. The manual calls for a 40amp fuse but my car has a 30amp in it, that wouldnt cause it would it? Should i clean off the sensors?

the light should come on when its is disabled. The light is saying there is a problem with the system and it is shut off. and if the fuse isn't blown I don't think that is your problem.

Clean the sensors and toner rings first. I had a problem with no light where the abs would ENGAGE every time I came to a stop. Clean em up and no problem since.
