Hello guys im trying to figure out a stalling problem on my 98 cobra... Usually when the car is warmed up, when u push on the break or steer the wheel it will stall (not in gear). I have read up on it and people say it is very common for the iac going out or needing to be clean which causes the car to stall and have replaced that and it did help a little but still stalls. Anyone have any ideas as to what it might be and can help me out with this? No mods except for KNN intake

I can't recall if the Mustang has one but it's worthwhile checking: How's the power steering pressure switch? Like I said, I can't recall if the car has one but if it does and it's disconnected or malfunctioning, the PCM won't know about extra loading on the power steering pump caused by a steering cramp or brake application and it won't adjust the IAC which may lead to idle instability or stalling...

I'm positive that the 99-04 MY Mustangs do not have a power steering load switch. I'm not as sure about the 96-98. My gut says no.

Is the idle very low? If yes, my vote is a vacuum leak in the IAC bypass line.

it idles fine until i apply breaks or steer the wheel, then the idle drops really low which stalls it out

Migropes:

It doesn't take too long to change the intake on the 2V engine so I think 2 to 3 hours of shop time plus the new gasket(s), so around $250 to $350 (2 or 3 * 100+50) then taxes and any 'environmental fees' (fluid disposal, etc.).

HTH,

Chris
