This is like a trip down memory lane in a early 2000s ford Racing Catalog with all these “classic” wheels

Memory Lane from a different catalog: always loved these ROH I put on my first ‘86.

I restored (or improved) mine 4 years ago but never installed.

I picked up these instead...

Those things are a bear to clean, I imagine scuffing them up and then not getting any runs must have been a challenge.

Not as bad as you may think. The hardest part was getting the old oxidized crap off the lip and spokes. Usually with 80 grit paper (by hand). Once the crap is gone it is not bad. A progression of grits down to 1500 or 2000. Then polish them. Painting the silver is the easy part. A little tape, a razor and then wheel paint. Tape the polished parts, cut to the edge with razor and spray away.

I would love to find one rim but I can usually only find them in sets.

Hence why it took me so long to find a single. Granted...it wasn’t as cheap as I’d like but nobody wants to break up full sets.

Found these pics online while searching for info on widening. I might want to go to 9” or 9.5” out back...hmm.

Hey Mike @Mustang5L5 , I just spent some time looking at your wheel restoration thread. I LOVE the center caps you used on the Cobra rims! I might try to find a set of these.

Those are just 01-04 Bullitt wheel center caps. They fit perfectly. It's what I plan on running. The SVT caps are blah, and the cobra caps are stupid money right now.

Was moving the wheel so had to toss a cap in. Definitely the way to go.

And yes, I like to align center caps with valve stems

See....another tip I just simply overlooked until you pointed it out. It's subtle, but it makes a difference. I like it. I see these center caps available but they seem pretty pricey! Guess the days of $20 center caps is gone.

Btw, if you are refinishing them and decide to powdercoat them, if you find a shop that uses Prismatic Powders (or lets you supply your own powder) Silver Oar is spot on match to the oem color

Swatch on OEM paint
