98 cobra wont start, HELP

I have a 1998 cobra with 50,000 miles on it. I went to start it today and it wont start. I though maybe the battery was bad and it turned out that it was so thats brand new. When I try to start it the engine does turn over, I can hear the fuel pump turning on but it wont take. Some times the first time I try to start it, it seems like it almost takes but after that it just turns over.

anyone have any sugestions

Is your Theft light flashing or anything when you try to start it? Sometimes the computer needs a reset by unhooking the battery for 15 minutes.

could be your crank position sensor.

no theft light and the battery was disconnected for over a day when i bought a new one. how and i tell if its the crank sensor? also what is the easiest way to test that i am getting spark?

pull a plug wire off each coil and check for spark , if you have no spark on either side , i would say go ahead and buy the crank sensor and install it would be a safe bet

yeah it stayed running with no check engine light

Take the battery and get it tested anyways, also double check for shorts and the connections of things onto the battery i.e. tightness of the terminals attached to + & -

in my orginial post i said that i did have it tested and they found it bad so i replaced it with a brand new gold diehard
