I don't hear anyone trying this, so I have to ask: Has anyone tried mounting the chin spoiler from the 03/04 Cobra bumper onto the 99/01 bumper?.. did it mount flush without much modification? Pics would be great.

I thought that it was an intergrated part of the bumper cover. I've see 99-01 cobras w/mach spoilers they're ok.

Nope, they're not integrated - You can pickup the Cobra chin alone. Perk for buying the 03/04 Cobra bumper is that it comes with the holes drilled for the chin. I heard of one guy attempting the 04 chin to the 99 Cobra over on SVT Performance, but I never heard the end result. Looks very possible to me.

I just did it last week. I used the same clips from the bumper with the trip. I lined it up and drilled the holes through the trim and the bumper (make sure it is lined up, takes 2 people) Start at the center, mount it and then go to the next hole to the left or right and then back to the other side of center. back and forth. You will need a few extra clips and screws. You can grab them from and ford dealership or a junkyard if need be. Make sure it is flush before you get it drilled. Like I said I did it one hole at a time. Dont reuse the holes/tabs on the trim itself, drill completely new hold closer in so it stays flush and keeps it that way. (this sounds harder than it is but its not that hard. You will come up a 1/4 inch short on the sides near the fronts of the fender wells but its not that noticeable.
Mine turned out good. It can be done but with some minor modifications as stated. Let me know and Ill get some snaps of mine

Oh yeah when you mount it and get the screw through the hole you have drilled, use the clip as a nut. You will have to get your arm up into the nose of the front bumper. You know how there is the larger flat portion to the front versus the 03/04 where it stops and the chin spoiler mounts. No cutting or anything is needed. When it goes on it will conceal that larger flat portion in the front like its not even there. Looks good.

Thanks for coming through Sharkster. :nice:

I like that look, but it is a bit disappointing that the chin doesn't extend far enough back to be flush at the fenders. I was hoping it would be. If I mount the 03 chin, I'll probably start flush on the sides. While I usually dislike the Mach 1 chin on the Cobra bumpers, I am starting to like it when the sides are flush rather than the front. What do you guys think of these pics?

If you start on the sides you wont be flush up front and it can be real noticeable. I had my kids down there holding it up there for me and said "nope" ill take the 1/4 inch hit at the fender well fronts.

Yeah I don't doubt it. Starting from the sides seems to look ok for the Mach 1 chin though. I'll see how it looks in person when my car steps out of the shop - I still have my Mach 1 chin from my old bumper. I may end up with the 03 Cobra chin if I don't like the look, or maybe I'll just keep the bumper chin-free.
