hey everyone, i spun a rod bearing in my 2000 mustang gt with a manual tranny, so ive been looking for gently used motors to put into my car. my car had ~120,000 miles on it. im a student so i cant really afford too much, especially anything crazy like an 03 cobra engine. i have found some mustang engines but most of them have a ton of miles on them (anywhere between 60,000 to 90,000 miles) and are ~$1500 -$2000. Some of the places i have talked to mentioned the possibility of using a lincoln towncar or police interceptor engine and just taking all my parts that are useable and swapping them over. i guess my main question is, does anyone know if this will actually work???? the engines that i found are within a reasonable price and have REALLY low miles (btwn 12,000 and 51,000 miles). Besides i know most people with cars like these dont dog the hell out of them. i know theres a difference in hp/torque and im wondering if i would be able to put my PI heads/cams/etc. and intake on the newer motor. basically i would just be using the block, crank, pistons, and rods if i could. if anyone could tell me the complications behind this swap i would really appreciate it.
