I've got a question that hopefully somebody can shed some light on. I've got a 02 gt that im wanting to upgrade the brakes on to cobra spec brakes. I've also got a 79 that i was thinking about using the old 02 brake on it. Is it possible to use 99-04 spindles, rotors, calipers on my 79? Just a fyi. The 79 has a aje tubular kmember, maximum motorsports standard offset a-arms, and maximum motorsports coilover kit. I've read different places saying that 94-95 spindles were the best to use for brake upgrades. But ive also heard that the 99-04 spindles are the best.

The 99-04 spindles make the front track width wider.
Use the 94/95.

You will need to keep the spindles on the 02 anyway when upgrading the brakes, so just buy the 94/95's for the 79.
Just keep in mind the way the calipers sit makes it hard to use older style rims.
People think it's the disc height, but it's really the caliper hitting the spokes.

yup. You would just need to grind a little off of the spindles to make room for the calipers. you'll see when you try to bolt them up where you need to take a little off. There are a bunch of websites for it too.

I run a 96 spindle which is similar. It does push the wheel out a bit further, but IMHO they are better than the 94-95 units because it allows the wheels to have a better turning angle. Yes they will make wider wheels rub the fenders, or require the use of rack bushings and a bumpsteer kit, but I feel my car has just enough room to fit my 17x9 R's with this setup.
