every 99-04 ive ever looked under has had aluminum cat-back, but ive got a bunch of guys over on ME.com saying they come stock with stainless. anyone care to clear this up? I swear ive never seen a stang come stock with stainless cat-back. not calling them liars, but this is the first i've ever heard of it.

Hmmmm, I've never seen a stock exhaust on a mustang, except for a V6. Good question because I have no idea.

Yes, the stock systems are stainless and they last forever. Only some aftermarket ones are "Aluminized"....not aluminum. It's basically just a rest preventative coating they use to cover the mild steel the exhaust to make it last longer.

All stock exhausts are 409 stainless. This is a cheap stainless that will rust over time.

Aftermarket systems almost always 304 stainless that'll last forever.

Aluminized systems will rust the fastest, in Michigan they last abotu 2 years before they have holes.
