I have heard that the cobra heads will bolt straight on to a 5.4L block with minor modification I have a set of 98 cobra heads and wondered what block or blocks these would bolt on to also any specifics would be great what kind of compression do these get what modifications are required, do any of the mounts need to be changed. Im looking to get around 11 - 11.5 compression and would be very interested in any information you may be able to offer.

I was looking at the navigator block since it was a DOHC to start with.

As far as I know, you can use any 5.4L block. Doesnt matter if it was DOHC or SOHC, it should bolt up the same.

Have you considered what intake manifold you'll be using and the fact you'll need to change the computer and wiring?

should be able to use a DOHC 5.4 intake with the cobra heads, then just port the 5.4 intake, or bend over and buy a 2000 Cobra R intake

after i thought about it, you cant get any OEM Ford parts for the Cobra R because you need your VIN number to get them.

HOWEVER,

check out this months MM&FF, they have an article on the new Sullivan Intake manifold. Its for 4.6 and 5.4 4V motors. you can run a carb or buy their upper manifold for Fuel Injection. It comes with the Upper and lower manifolds, fuel rails, and injectors. its a single plane style plenum, and the underside has bosses cast into each runner so if you wanted to run nitrous you just need to drill and tap them. also, it uses a cobra style throttle body. i believe the F/I version runs about 1800 bucks or so.

1. cobra intake w/ adapter plates.
2. your computer will work with adjustments for fuel/air.
3. booster for fuel pump.
4. front cover
5. headers from cobra
will barely fit. good luck.

I am curious to see how this turns out. Doesn't seem like it is worth all the effort. Would be pretty sweet to see a blown 5.4 laying 700 at the wheels.
